The second-hand marketplace Users Express Anger Regarding Size Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all users about the change.
Online Platforms Backlash
Countless users and merchants are posting online saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Modifications
Before the change, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she said.
Manual Updates
A different user, based in Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options following member complaints.
